It’s nice to be recognized by your peers.

Harris Bricken cannabis business attorneys Hilary Bricken, Jihee Ahn and Griffen Thorne have been named Super Lawyers Southern California Rising Stars 2022. Jihee (litigation) and Griffen (cannabis law) earned the award for the second time, first having been honored in 2021. Hilary Bricken (business and corporate law) has been recognized four years in a row, and she was also named to the Super Lawyer’s list of the top 50 “Up and Coming” women attorneys for Southern California.

Each year, Super Lawyers recognizes the top lawyers in California, selected via a peer nomination process and based on the results of independent research. Selected lawyers are those who received the highest point totals during the nomination, research, and peer review processes.

Southern California Rising Stars must be 40 years old or younger or have practiced for less than 10 years. Selections for this honor also are based on peer recognition and professional achievement. Recipients represent the top 2.5 percent of up-and-coming lawyers in Southern California.

Jihee Ahn is an accomplished complex commercial litigator and chair of Harris Bricken’s Dispute Resolution/Litigation practice. She primarily represents clients in business, intellectual property, and real estate litigation and arbitration matters for both domestic and international clients. Jihee was also recently named by Law360 as one of only five attorneys under 40 for international arbitration. In addition to being licensed in California, Jihee is admitted in Oregon and Washington.

Griffen Thorne is a broadly experienced corporate attorney. He negotiates and closes business, asset, and property purchases on behalf of both buyers and sellers. He represents borrowers, lenders, and investors in equity and debt finance transactions, and lessors and lessees in commercial leases. He serves as outside general counsel for corporate clients, assisting with entity formation, corporate governance, general commercial transactions, intellectual property licensing, and more.

As chair of Harris Bricken’s Regulated Substances practice group, she helps cannabis companies of all sizes with their cannabis related business and regulatory needs. Hilary was also recently named by Chambers as one of only two “Band 1” California cannabis lawyers. Chambers described her as being at the “cutting edge of cannabis” and “very prominent in the market.”
